Gamma & Density Co. Now Shipping 3cP Color Correction Software

Three software versions ensure proper color consistency on all types of productions

Los Angeles, California -- June 16, 2008 -- Today Gamma & Density Co. announced that it has commenced shipments of two versions of its 3cP software for color control of film and digital productions. Previously only available as a full-service rental to high-end film and digital productions, 3cP is now available for purchase for all levels of productions.

“After enjoying the success we've seen with 3cP being used on Hollywood-style studio productions, we're proud to make the same color control capabilities affordable for all size productions." said Yuri Neyman, DP and CEO of Gamma & Density. "No cinematographer should have to go without the opportunity of consistent, predictable, controlled color throughout the entire creative and production process."

3cP Ensures Color Consistency

The 3cP software ensures color consistency from the set through post-production and onto the screen. By capturing the cinematographer's intended color "look" on the set, that look is preserved throughout the post-production process, saving time and money during color grading, and freeing more time for the creative process of color correction.

Built-in color calibration using Gamma & Density's patented color chart ensures that everyone throughout the production process is seeing the same colors.

Three Versions Provide the Right Solution for All Users

3cP is available for purchase in Two versions - 3cP/st, and 3cP/sf--each tailored to a specific type of filmmaker. As needs change and grow, upgrades are available to move from one version to the next.

3cP/st is the entry-level version of 3cP, providing basic color consistency tools and directly connecting to the Apple(R) Color and Synthetic Aperture(TM) Color Finesse(R) color correctors. 3cP/st supports capturing images from digital video cameras using FireWire/DV and HD-SDI connections, as well as via digital still cameras. Color correction information may be sent to post-production on CD-ROM or can be transferred electronically using an Internet connection.

3cP/sf includes all the features of 3cP/st and also has support for the ASC CDL and exporting 3D LUTs, as well as direct hardware support for the Leader Portable SDI Rasterizer as an image capture device, and for Cine-tal(TM) monitors for live on-set video previewing. This version also adds a wider selection of color presets, including Kodak and Fuji film stocks.

Both versions include a Gamma & Density color chart for HD digital workflow, a $485 value.

3cP/re, a new name for the traditional 3cP rental product, remains available for productions desiring a fully turn-key experience, with Gamma & Density providing full-service calibration, post-production coordination, and training.

Compatibility

3cP is compatible with PowerPC- and Intel-based Macintosh systems running OS X 10.4.1 and 10.5 or later.

Pricing and Availability

3cP/st is priced at $599 and 3cP/sf is priced at $1997

Both versions are now shipping and may be purchased directly via the Gamma & Density web site, http://www.gammadensity.com.

About Gamma & Density

Gamma & Density Co. develops tools that enable cinematographers to maintain artistic and technical control over their images during the film and digital transfer processes.

Cinematographer Yuri Neyman (Liquid Sky, D.O.A. and many more) and Bob Currier are developers of 3cP system.

The Los Angeles-based company’s Thorough Control System (TCS) helps cinematographers arrive at their desired look during a film-to-tape transfer session by relying on a patented color chart that functions as a common language between DP’s, DIT’s and telecine colorists. The innovative 3cP on-set color correction system for cinematographers calibrates monitors and transfers images quickly and without losses between different digital color imaging systems used in film, television, HD, and Digital Cinematography. The 3cP system has been used, or is currently being used, on films including 10,000 BC, Babel, Iron Man, The Kite Runner, Quantum of Solace, State of Play, and TV shows including The Tudors, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Low Life, and many other projects.
